Pro Rock Season Opener at Cougar
Buttes Brings Win for Bulloch & Munford
Cougar Buttes,
California – (March 13, 2005) The 2004 Supercrawl
III Champion Dean (Ice Man) Bulloch and his spotter,
Karl (Krazy Karl) Munford, captured their first competition
win of the 2005 season. The On Track Krawler Team®
came to the high desert of California and took to the
rocks against arch rivals and good friends, Rock Runner
Racing’s Brian Errea and Joachim Schweisow. The
two teams battled throughout the weekend event on the
sharp rocks of the Mojave Desert, but in the end it
was Bulloch capturing the win on his BFGoodrich Krawler
KX tires.
Bulloch and
Munford arrived to this first event of the season still
reeling from their championship season in 2004. Capturing
the Supercrawl III championship, as well as the UROC
Pro-National Series Championship, the dynamic rock crawling
duo are hard to stop. “We had a great season in
2004 and we are looking forward to repeating in 2005.
However, we have a long way to go and there are many
tough teams that we’ll have to battle with all
the way to the end,” commented Bulloch.
Reigning
from Cedar City, Utah, Bulloch and Munford take to the
rocks several days a week in preparation for competition.
Both “Ice Man” and “Krazy Karl”
have storied competitive backgrounds that include professional
trials motorcycle competitions. Munford said, “Actually,
when we were riding competitive trials bikes, we were
practicing 5 hours a day all week long. So in the big
picture rock, crawling is not that demanding.”
That comment coming from Munford only minutes after
he suffered a smashed and bloodied finger on the final
obstacle of this Pro Rock event. As the winning team
began the last obstacle of the event, Munford was stacking
a huge rock into a crevice when he suffered the injury.
The competitor’s injury was unbeknownst to anyone,
but the rugged spotter continued at lightening pace
working on the rocks throughout the six minute obstacle.
Bulloch prepared for the final ascent and Munford stacked
yet another massive rock with his bloodied hand. Bulloch
crossed the finish line capturing the win as Munford
tended to his injured hand. Munford smiled and said,
“Ahhh, it’s not too bad.”
